Prunus serotina (Black Cherry) grows up to 100 feet in height and is native to the eastern US from Florida to Maine and west to the Rocky Mountains. The pinkish wood darkens to a deep red-brown with age and this tray will develop a beautiful contrast between the darker heartwood and the creamy sapwood.
